Let me tell you a little about myself.
I am a life-long learner who has been an educator for 40+
years. I am very pleased to share my blog with you. I was an elementary teacher
for many years with experiences in kindergarten through eighth grades. I taught
in self-contained classrooms and in gifted education programs. I served as a
local school technology coordinator.
In 2002, I earned
my Doctor of Education Degree from Nova Southeastern University. My
dissertation was based on an applied research project that was implemented for
160 days in my fifth grade classroom. The focus of my project which was
successful was strategies for advancing academically at-risk fifth graders to
grade level performance. Two of the major strategies implemented were about
establishing a warm, caring, and supportive classroom environment and
establishing positive relationships with parents and other major stake holders
while maintaining their support.
I am married to Richard Parrott, a retired teacher, and we are the parents of three wonderful daughters. We have six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
I believe children deserve the best teachers the world has to offer. A classroom is a magic place. A teacher helps make today and tomorrow.
I look forward to interacting with you!
